It is a widespread assumption that the socio-ecological transition current is a key element in job creation and employment changes for the coming years.
The presentation of forecasts for employment that robert jestin presents to us made clear that if the socio-ecological transition is generating new jobs, we can’t feed too much hope about its impact on the employment market. This will concern more transfers of jobs than real creations.
In terms of job creation, Robert Jestin distinguishes four categories among the sectors affected by the socio-ecological transition.
The high potential sectors, foremost among them research and foresight, the building trade (with the challenge of renovation)
Sectors that continue to evolve, the water sector and waste management, renewable energy, transport station or “en site propre”(place reserved for the traffic of public transports)
Stagnant sectors, such as agrofuels and green chemistry
The declining sectors, including automotive ( despite clean automobile) or trades of the sea
The effects of socio-ecological transition on employment are low, and overall, rather than the emergence of new professions, we are dealing with the transfer of existing trades.
