The general reforging of the Territorial Intelligence portal started an important and deep work during the latest months. The new version of the Intra-consortium is presently available for the caENTI members. It completes the cooperative workspace.
A new version of the portal, accompanied by many services, will be put online for the scientific community and the general public, in September 2007.
The first version of the Territorial Intelligence portal was born on March, the 1st 2006 that was the caENTI (Coordination Action of the European Network of Territorial Intelligence) starting date. From this moment on, the work consisted in improving the tools that compose it.
The cooperative workspace, CooSpace, was adapted to the needs of the caENTI partners. Its interface was improved and translated. Very quickly, this tool was opened to different programmes that take place in the framework of the preparation of the Network of Excellence in territorial intelligence.
To reinforce the consortium management, an Intranet site was developed. The Intra-consortium is directed to the caENTI partners and it is a tool of first choice to organize the work and manage information and knowledge that result from the latter. Presently, the new version offers a range of tools, among which ones a shared documentary basis, address book and calendar, a wiki… (See Intranet concept for more information)
A more efficient software was also implemented for the international conferences management. [Connect to the conferences management software to register and submit a communication to Huelva 2007]
The architecture of the new portal was designed so as to include the future services thet will result from the caENTI works (portal on the caENTI territorial indicators, etc.). The software of contents management eZpublish was chosen to implement this new architecture, because of its configuration and extension possibilities. One of the eZpublish main assets is the fact it keeps an easy access for the contributors, whilst offering an important functional richness.
This reforging will make territorial-intelligence.eu a reference portal on Territorial Intelligence that puts at the disposal of the different audiences scientific works, editorial contents and services. The information architecture and the implemented research engine will favour a more efficient navigation and consequently a more important impact of the initiated research activities.
To summarize, many tasks were performed and the portal improvement is continuing, so as to better answer the objectives of dissemination and services to the scientific community on the theme of Territorial Intelligence.
