IT-GO, first west region meeting of territorial intelligence

After the publication of the call for papers of Salerno (4-8 November 2009), we announce the first West Region meeting of Territorial Intelligence in Nantes and Rennes (Spring 2010).

These two meetings are part of several scientific events organized to support the answer of the European Network of Territorial Intelligence (ENTI) to the coming call for project of the 7th framework programme for research and development in socio-economic sciences and humanities.

Co-organized by the ENTI network, the Nantes, Rennes, Tours and Franche-Comté region MSH (Maisons des Sciences et de l’Homme, House of Human Sciences), the ThéMA laboratory (Theory and models for urban and regional planning UMR 6049), the ESO laboratory (Spaces and Society- UMR 6590) and the LBA (Les Badauds Associés) association, this first West region meeting of territorial intelligence aims at spreading knowledge, practices and tools of territorial intelligence towards scientists of West France regions and, in the same time, setting up an awareness space for decision-makers and territorial actors on these emerging knowledge, practices and tools.

At the territorial convergence of the two host metropolises, Nantes and Rennes, this meeting will particularly develop the European dimension of the research-action network through workshops and conferences between the ENTI network members and West region scientists and actors.

Scientific papers will be developed on the 4 themes on which caENTI conferences were based during the last quadriennal period, that is to say:

  • Sustainable development and regional identities, aiming at developing territorial intelligence actions with respect to sustainable development ethics.
  • Territorial intelligence and governance, describing practices of territorial governance subsumed by the notion of project, new framework of public action and political legitimization.
  • Indicators, Tools and Methods for territorial intelligence, dealing with conception and spreading of territorial intelligence methods and tools designed to analyse data and to feed territorial information systems. Reflection on sustainable development territorialized indicators took a growing place in these thematic.
  • Territorial intelligence and development culture, oriented towards practices of participative research-action applied to regional development. This theme will pursue reflection began in November 2009 in the Salerno conference.

These scientific themes will find a professional resonance in the collective intelligence activity area to examine needs and territorial practices during workshops, mixing the themes of citizen dialogue, economic development, innovation and formation.

Planned in Nantes and Rennes in the second week of February 2010, these West region meeting will be the last step of network’s exchanges before submitting the European project of excellence network in territorial intelligence.
