Created in January 2001 on the basis of the European Health Program from the ‘Maison Médicale d’Ougrée’ (as Ougrée’s Surgery), asbl Optim@ is active in Seraing, a city of 60.000 inhabitants located in the industrial area of Liège and which is currently in a real socioeconomic reconversion. Optim@ comes in a local development approach oriented towards the improvement of people’ welfare and which especially cares about the social inclusion of people in a very unstable situation.

For many years now, the Durbuy, Hotton, LaRoche, Rendeux and Erezée municipalities have been investing in a volunteer policy in terms of local development and employment improvement. The INTEGRA PLUS Association continually draws up the socioeconomic analysis of the region in order to develop innovating actions which would encourage the access to employment and the improvement of the population welfare.

The ‘Jardins de Cocagne’ are organic market gardens which encourage the social and professional inclusion. Thanks to the organic vegetables production and supply which are given out among the members-consumers through weekly baskets, these gardens enable adults in difficulties to find a job and to develop a personal project.
