About Besançon 2008
The sixth annual International Conference of Territorial Intelligence took place in Besançon (France) from October, the 15th to October, the 18th 2008, on the theme "Tools and methods of Territorial Intelligence".
After the conferences Region, identity and sustainable development in Alba Iulia (Romania) on September 2006, and Territorial Intelligence and Governance. Participatory research-action and territorial development, in Huelva (Spain), on October 2007, Besançon 2008 was the last conference organised by the Coordination Action of the European Network of Terrritorial Intelligence (caENTI) funded by the 6th Resarch Programme of the European Union. It exposed the progress of the caENTI and the prospects of the ENTI for the 7th FP of the EU.

Regarding the caENTI
The Coordination Action of the European Network of Terrritorial Intelligence (caENTI) objective is the integration of present research actions on the tools of territorial intelligence to give them a European dimension. It wants to promote the comparative research so as to design and diffuse tools, methodologies and research protocols accessible to the researchers in social sciences and to the actors of the territories sustainable development. It aims at constituting data sets that will be applicable for the multi-disciplinary research activity and for the territorial development.
It started on March 2006 and will end at the end of February 2009. Indeed, this conference, organised by the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme et de l'Environnement (Institute of Humanities, Social Sciences and Environment) of the University of Franche-Comté that coordinates the caENTI, constituted the closing conference of this action.
It was also dedicated to the project of network of excellence that is already supported by the French National Centre of the Scientific Research activity.
