A big step for the project of a European master in territorial intelligence

The project of a European master of “Territorial Intelligence: Space Information and Planning” of the University of Franche-Comté (of Eastern France) received a very good assessment from the Agency of assessment of research activity and higher education (AERES). The master “Planning and governance in the southern countries” which is a remote special field received a very good assessment. It is a big step for the Erasmus Mundus European master of Territorial Intelligence.

The European master of “Territorial Intelligence: Space information and Planning” of the University of the Franche-Comté will probably see the light in September 2008 and the master "Planning and governance in the Southern countries" in September 2009.

The different universities of Franche-Comté (France), Huelva (Spain), Liege (Eastern Belgium), Pécs (Hungary), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Alba Iulia (Romania) and Salerno (Italy), which make a contribution to the coordination action of the European Network of Territorial Intelligence (caENTI), supported by the 6th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development of the European Union, have been planning to table a common project for an Erasmus Mundus European master since 2006.

They intensified the exchanges; they opted for the education of the different masters and the educational departments that the different partner universities, according to their specificities in the territorial intelligence field, will offer to the students.

The plan for the exchanges has been defined since 2007:

  • Upgrading in each original university during the first semester of the first year.
  • Gathering within the context of the master "Territorial intelligence: Space Information and Planning" during the second semester, intensive training course in foreign languages and project starting.
  • Specialization during the first semester of the second year within the appropriate university, gathering in the University of Huelva with a department concerning the territorial intelligence European news and the projects presentation.
  • Master’s thesis or vocational course in one of the universities during the second semester of the second year.

Those universities got together on Friday 25 April 2008 and decided to table the Erasmus Mundus project in May 2009, once the European master of "Territorial Intelligence: Space Information and Planning" has started.

The "Formations" heading of the territorial Intelligence portal will allow highlighting the master educations which are likely to welcome students in every university as well as the most appropriate educational departments as regards territorial intelligence.
