MSHE Ledoux, Institute of Humanities, Social Sciences and Environment

The University of Franche-Comté (UFC) is an average-sized university, characterized by its pluridisciplinarity.

The Maison des Sciences de l’Homme et de l'Environnement Claude Nicolas Ledoux (MSHE Ledoux, Institute of Humanities, Social Sciences and Environment) is an USR of the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research), which gathers the research teams in Human, Language and society Sciences. It presents a lasting and innovative project, able to take in charge the emergent thematics, to develop international exchanges crossroads, to give answers to the social demand, and to develop an active cooperation with the socioeconomic partners.

Territorial Intelligence constitutes its main research pole. It deals with the questions inferred by the sustainable development, a well-balanced organization and the territorial space use, in the various times and spaces where population's needs are estimated and where there are tensions between people or communities and between Human being and environment that have to be resolved by the spatial dimension of the Human phenomena.

From 2003 to 2005, the European Network of Territorial Intelligence (REIT) was an action supported by the MSHE Ledoux.
