Jean-Jacques GIRARDOT, PhD in information economics, is associate professor of economical sciences and leader of research team ThéMA-it.

Initially specialised in information society, project management, statistics, computering, data processing and spatial analysis, since 1989 he participated as scientific evaluator in several European programs in the fields of social cohesion, cultural heritage and territorial development. He created, developed and tested the CATALYSE method to observe and evaluate territorial projects of sustainable development in several European territories, and more recently in Asia.

He proposed in 1998 the concept of “territorial intelligence” as a scientific and ethic territorial approach, using information technologies.

Since 2003, he has coordinated the REIT, European Network of Territorial Intelligence. He is also responsible of the technical platform of the MSHE Ledoux, head of Master of Digital Publishing; director of ISTI (Institute of Information Sciences and Technologies) and head of social sciences department. He was dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and then deputy president of the University of Franche-Comté.
